Simply Mancini

Simply Mancini is a collection of the most famous compositions by Henri Mancini (1924 – 1994) highlighting his most successful genres – film and television scores. These have been carefully selected and arranged by Dan Coates for easy piano, making many of Mancini’s most beautiful melodies engaging rhythms accessible to pianists of all ages. Phrase markings, articulations, fingerings and dynamics have been included to aid with interpretation, and a large print size makes the notation easy to read.

Henry Mancini was board in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in a musical Italian immigrant family. After being drafted into the army and experiencing the horrors of WW2, his love for music led him into the music industry and into the company of Tex Beneke of the Glenn Miller Band, as well as composers Ernst Krenek and Mario Castelnuovo – Tedesco. His working relationship with writer/ producer Blake Edwards lasted over 35 Years and produced many of Manicini’s greatest works – Moon River, The Days of Wine and Roses , The Pink Panther and many others. Manicini;s greatest contribution to music was introducing Jazz music into orchestral flim and television scores, a paring that rewarded Mancini with a Golden Globe Award, Four Academy Awards and twenty Grammy Awards. This music with its romance, charm and sophistication, has been embraced by orchestras and musicians around the world. For these reasons and Many more, His music was exciting to explore.
